EFI's 2019 Earth Day Success

"What a bright idea!” a Framingham, MA resident exclaimed as she accepted her complimentary LED light bulb from the EFI booth at the Framingham Earth Day event this past weekend. The sun was peeking out from behind the clouds and everyone was in high spirits as they stopped by to learn more about saving energy in their homes in honor of Earth Day.

April is a very significant month – the beginning signs of spring start to show in New England (April showers bring May flowers, after all!) and everyone gets excited for the warmer weather and sunshine of the summer. April is also significant because it contains one of EFI’s favorite holidays – Earth Day!

Every year, volunteers from EFI take part in some kind of Earth Day activity. In past years, our team has worked together to clean up litter in our local neighborhoods and this year, we decided to try something new.

This year, EFI signed up to have a booth at two local Earth Day Festivals (one in Framingham, MA and another in Natick, MA). In total, we handed out over nearly 900 LED light bulbs (donated to us by our partner, TCP Lighting) to the attendees to encourage them to make the switch from incandescent bulbs to LED bulbs in their homes.

The EFI Earth Day team did a great job spreading the news of energy efficiency to the local homeowners. Both events were greatly attended and though the weather could have been better (it has been a true rainy New England April!), the energy was high as families and residents of Framingham and Natick moved from booth to booth to learn how to honor our planet.

EFI’s tables at both events were popular – the residents of both towns seemed genuinely interested in how they could save energy (not to mention lower their utility bills!) and were excited about being able to bring home a couple LED bulbs to “make the switch.

It was also fantastic to hear just how many residents already knew of the fantastic Home Energy Audits that our partner, Mass Save, offers to homeowners. A surprising amount had either already had one done or had one scheduled! It’s so great to hear that our community is aware of the importance of saving energy.
