Consumer Division

EFI's Consumer Division works to stimulate increased use of effective energy efficiency and resource conservation-related products. Our online store features over 1,000 products, combining online purchasing with comprehensive product and technology information.

EFI Consumer Division's core strengths include knowledge about, and access to, a wide variety of residential energy efficiency-related products, along with our strong relationships with manufacturers and stakeholders. We strive to focus on products that will deliver tangible savings, meeting or exceeding consumer expectations, at competitive prices – but our initiatives are as much about providing information as they are about providing products. As both an ENERGY STAR partner and a WaterSense partner we use regularly draw upon resources from those programs to educate visitors to our site. We use Energy Information Agency data to provide estimates of the likely resulting electricity savings and the potential avoided carbon dioxide emissions from products purchased through our online store. We often introduce new energy efficiency-related products before they are available through conventional retail channels, helping to stimulate interest and demand which will, in turn, hopefully encourage other retailers to increase their offering of these types of products as well.

Beyond making products directly available to consumers, we also facilitate the efforts of utility and non-utility partners working to promote increased energy conservation by developing dedicated, co-branded sites for the customers of specific partners. These unique initiatives allow us to restrict use to only specific, eligible customers, we can apply partner produce incentives into the purchase price, confirm compliance with pre-determined limits by customer as products are added to the shopping card, and restrict delivery to a utility partner's geographic service territory.
